Pre-race Questions

Can someone pick up my packet for me?

Yes, a friend or family member may pick up your packet for you during any of the assigned packet pick-up times.

I already registered, but noticed I could have received a discount. Can I get a refund for the amount of the discount?

Oops, sorry you missed it. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds after registration.

I already registered, but got injured. What are your policies on deferrals, bib transfers, or refunds?

There are no refunds and no bib transfers. Runners wishing to defer their registration to another year may also do so up to December 1 for a $25 fee. No deferrals will be accepted after December 1. Runners wishing to switch to the Brown Santa 5K may do so at no additional fee.

What is your policy on event cancellations?

The Austin Runners Club reserves the right to cancel the race at any time due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control. Causes for race cancellation may include hazardous and potentially dangerous weather, unsafe course conditions, or governmental intervention. If these occurs, we will not be able to offer a refund.

Race-day Questions

Do you allow walkers? How long do I have to finish?

Walkers are welcome! Our course will remain open and supported for four hours, which is a pace of 18 minutes and 18 seconds per mile. After the course closes at 12 p.m., any participant who chooses to finish the race will be running at his or her own risk. After 12 p.m., the roads will reopen, the water stops will be picked up, and we will begin breaking down the finish line.

Can my dog run with me?

Sorry, no pets are allowed to participate on race day.

What’s the weather like?

Race day temperatures at Decker can be unpredictable, but preparing for the cold is a good bet! The average temperature at the start of the race is in the 40s.

Where do I park on race day?

There will be plenty of parking on the Expo Center grounds close to both the Start/Finish and the Banquet Hall. Enter the grounds through the main entrance off Decker Lane and follow parking volunteers’ directions.

Will there be restrooms available?

Yes, there will be portable restrooms near the starting line, as well as indoor restrooms inside the Expo Center. There will also be a few portable restrooms out on the course. There will also be a portable restroom at each water stop.

Will there be a medical team available?

Medical personnel will be on-site at the Banquet Hall before, during, and after the race.
