What (where, how, why) did you run today?

Nice work guys.  18+ miles for me, running around for 3 loops with Rogue for the 2nd race in the trail run series.  I had remembered the Loop course over at Emma Long to be faster that the others, but I also can remember when I was faster. Neither was true today.  Sometimes on long runs I feel like I'm slowing down but I'm really not.  Today I definitely was.  This course had a bit more climbing than I remembered--though we ran in the opposite direction from my other experience.  Then again, it was 2006 when I last ran it, so maybe I misremember.  It was hot, and it was hard, and I did walk a couple of uphills in the last 2 miles (my "running" uphill was about the same speed anyway), but it was still a pretty good morning and a fun event.  10 minutes slower than the Maze a few weeks ago.  ~25 minutes slower than the Loop in '06.  Oh well.

Emergency folks carried a gal out of there, hope she's alright.  I had often wondered how they would deal with getting an injured runner out of some of the remote areas on these things.

I went out and did 5.5 miles today, on my Lakeline route.  I figured it felt hard because it's a Monday morning.  After pulling the run off the Garmin, turns out it felt hard because I was running a bit faster than I thought.  I like that kind of surprise :-)

jg, after reading about your 18.6 FREAKING MILES last weekend, I had a hard time posting about our slow 3.4 yesterday :).  But, we did that and an easy sort of progressive 5 mile UT loop this AM, and things are kinda loosening up again. Nice to be back.

This morning was a "Hills Day" workout. 10k on a very hilly course with 4 x 200m progressive pace surges at 5:20 to 4:40 mile pace.

My 10k Course, located in the Far West boulevard area of Austin....start is on Far West at Hart lane, then to --- Chimney Corners --- Greystone --- Hart lane [approx 1 mile hill loop begins here] --- Spicewood Springs --- Wood Hollow --- Greystone --- Hart lane [approx 1 mile hill loop ends here, repeat hill loop 5 times, 3 in one direction and 2 in the opposite direction]...then --- Greystone --- Chimney Corners --- Far West [course ends here]

I'll tell you what David, I'll be your run felt much better than my 18! I was still a bit sore today.  I went for a slow shakedown 4+ mile run this afternoon thinking it would loosen things up.  It did, but not as much as I'd hoped.  I'll see how things feel tomorrow.  I know a bit part of the problem was poor hydration.  I just slacked off on that late last week and I paid for it on sunday with the reduced speed and post-run soreness.

4.5 mile run this afternoon around the office.  Stil feeling a bit sore in the quads and lower shins.  Run today was only slightly less mechanical than yesterday.  I was toying with the idea of running the Congress Ave Mile this weekend, but feeling this tight, it seems like a very poor idea unless things change and feel more fluid tomorrow.

5.9 miles west on Avery Ranch.  I wasn't sure the first stoplight at 183 would get me the 5.5 I wanted, so I went on to the second.  I guess the first would have done it...  Anyway, felt really good for the run, and got some hills in to boot.

Way to go for extra BB.

5.5 miles for me at lunch--still taking it nice and easy.  It felt easier today, which was good.  And I seem to be loosening up and much less robotic.  Soreness is pretty much gone.  Managed to add a bit of core work in after the run, so a good day over all.

jg, as long as you're not "moonwalking"  :)  If I see you running with just one glove...

Took yesterday off and then ran the 4 mile loop with M this AM. Felt much better.  Wish I was doing the Congress Ave Mile tamara, but it would be UGLY.  Gonna run long early then watch and cheer instead.
